AROUND TOWN ANNOUNCEMENT POLICIES

The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@ starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run in Around Town on Sundays only. One-time events will run as usual in Around Town Monday through Friday.

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.

◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff

◆ Chick-fil-A Stuffs the Bus — July 29, Chick-fil-A is partnering with the Starkville Junior Auxiliary on its annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Chickfil-A Starkville team members will receive donations of school supplies that will be distributed to children who need them

◆ School Supply Giveaway — A school supply giveaway will take place July 29 at 10 a.m. at NewBellZion UMC, 3743 Hwy 25 South

◆ Back to School Seminar — New Bethel MB Church will have a back to school information day July 29, 10:00a.m. to noon, to provide information to parents with children in school and those that are getting ready to graduate on subject area testing and how it effects the students and other beneficial information. The public in invited to attend

◆ Western Oktibbeha County Singing Convention — The Western Oktibbeha County Singing Convention will convene on July 29 at 5:00 p.m. and conclude on July 30 at 10:00 a.m. The Convention will be held at Union Hill M. B. Church on New Light Road were Rev. Alex Jordan is the Pastor. The public is invited to attend

◆ Veterans Administration Seminar — Montgomery Gardens Assisted Living will host a free seminar on July 29 at 10 a.m. for WWII, Korean War and Vietnam wartime veterans, spouses and caregivers discussing the Veterans Administration aid and benefits. For more information call 901406-0310

◆ Back to School Bash — Clothing Ministry in Rock Hill Community will host a back to school bash July 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parents must bring their children with them to pick up uniforms and supplies at Rock Hill United Methodist Church. ◆ NARFE Sales Booth — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) will have a booth in the Home, Lawn, and Garden Sale at the Sportsplex Aug. 5 (9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.) All Booth proceeds will go toward Alzheimer’s research

◆ COCO Monthly Meeting — The COCO monthly meeting will be held July 29 at 3 p.m. The meeting is open to the public

◆ The Dog Paddle — On August 12 from 9 a.m. to noon Oktibbeha County Humane Society will host its seventh annual Dog Paddle at Moncrief Pool. OCHS will open the pool to all the dogs of Starkville for an entrance fee. The fee will contribute to the spay and neuter fund, which helps decrease animal overpopulation

◆ The In-Time Conference — August 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Light Outreach of Holiness Temple will host various speakers for its conference. The public is invited to attend at 104 Watson Rd.

◆ Church Revival — The Light Outreach of Holiness Temple’s revival will be Aug. 7-12 at 7p.m. Prophet Conley, pastor of Breakthough Harvest Church in Chicago, will team up with Pastor Mary Meeks of Bethesda Outreach Ministries in Gay, Indiana.
