Phillies beat Braves in 11 innings

PHILADELPH­IA — Ty Kelly singled home the winning run with two outs in the 11th inning to lift the Philadelph­ia Phillies to a 4-3 comeback victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night.

Odubel Herrera hit a tying home run with one out in the ninth off Braves closer Jim Johnson, who blew his eighth save. Herrera finished with three hits and two RBIs.

The Phillies loaded the bases in the 11th against Rex Brothers (1-1), and Kelly lined the second pitch into leftcenter to score Tommy Joseph from third.

Hector Neris (3-4) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory.

Atlanta's Nick Markakis had three hits with two doubles to move within five hits of 2,000 for his career. The Braves have lost six of seven.

Diamondbac­ks 7, Cardinals 1

ST. LOUIS — Paul Goldschmid­t homered and drove in three runs, Zack Greinke pitched seven strong innings and the Arizona Diamondbac­ks beat the St. Louis Cardinals.

Greinke (13-4) limited the Cardinals to one run and four hits to improve to 5-0 in his last six starts. He struck out nine and walked one.

Goldschmid­t hit a two-run homer, his 22nd, and J.D. Martinez followed with a solo shot, his 21st, to give the Diamondbac­ks a 3-1 lead in the fourth. It was the eighth time this season Arizona hit back-to-back homers.

Martinez has five home runs and 12 RBIs in eight games since being acquired from Detroit on July 18.

Cardinals starter Mike Leake (7-9), who threw seven shutout innings in a win over Colorado in his last start, allowed three runs and four hits over five innings.

Ketel Marte had a two-run homer, A.J. Pollock an RBI double and Goldschmid­t a sacrifice fly in the Diamondbac­ks' four-run eighth against reliever Kevin Siegrist.

Paul DeJong's RBI single gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Greinke then retired the next 12 batters.

Rockies 4, Nationals 2

WASHINGTON — German Marquez carried a perfect game into the sixth inning, Trevor Story homered and the Colorado Rockies beat the Washington Nationals in a matchup of playoff contenders.

Marquez (9-4) set down his first 16 batters before allowing three hits in a span of four hitters in the sixth inning. The right-hander struck out a career-high 10 while allowing two runs and three hits in seven innings in his 20th career start.

Pat Neshek, who was acquired in a trade with Philadelph­ia on Wednesday, pitched a perfect eighth in his Rockies debut. Greg Holland, who was activated from the paternity list Saturday, completed a 1-2-3 ninth for his 32nd save in 33 tries.

Marquez won his fourth consecutiv­e start. He also joined teammates Kyle Freeland and Antonio Senzatela as the only rookies in the majors with at least nine victories this season.

Washington outfielder Bryce Harper went 0 for 4 to end his 19-game hitting streak. Tanner Roark (8-7) labored through five innings, allowing four runs and five hits with four walks.

Story hit a two-run drive to right-center in the second for his 15th homer this season. Gerardo Parra and Mark Reynolds added consecutiv­e RBI doubles in the fifth.

Marlins 7, Reds 3

MIAMI — Adam Conley won consecutiv­e starts for the first time this season, Christian Yelich hit a three-run homer and the Miami Marlins beat the reeling Cincinnati Reds.

Dee Gordon had three hits, Giancarlo Stanton drove in two runs and Marcell Ozuna doubled twice for the Marlins, who have won four straight.

Conley (4-3) went 7 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and five hits while striking out a season-best seven.

Joey Votto hit his 27th home run and Adam Duvall hit his 23rd for the Reds, who have dropped six in a row and are 2-14 since the All-Star break. Reds starter Tim Adleman (5-9) allowed six runs and six hits in 4 1/3 innings.
