AROUND TOWN ANNOUNCEMENT POLICIES
The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run in Around Town on Sundays only. One-time events will run as usual in Around Town Monday through Friday.

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.
◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff
◆ Audobon Field Trip — Audubon Field Trip. The Oktibbeha Audubon Society will hold a field trip on August 5 on Noxubee Refuge. Meet at the Refuge Visitor Center at 8 am. The public is invited
◆ NARFE Sales Booth — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) will have a booth in the Home, Lawn, and Garden Sale at the Sportsplex Aug. 5 (9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.) All Booth proceeds will go toward Alzheimer's research
◆ Piney Grove Sister2Sister Brunch — Piney Grove, Columbus will have their Sister2Sister Brunch Aug. 12 at 11am. Our Guest Speaker will be Minister Sherry Hathorn of KVIC. Health Awareness speakers are LaTossia Clark and Ashley Gilkey. M.E. Reed, Pastor

◆ The Dog Paddle — On August 12 from 9 a.m. to noon Oktibbeha County Humane Society will host its seventh annual Dog Paddle at Moncrief Pool. OCHS will open the pool to all the dogs of Starkville for an entrance fee. The fee will contribute to the spay and neuter fund, which helps decrease animal overpopulation
◆ The In-Time Conference — August 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Light Outreach of Holiness Temple will host various speakers for its conference. The public is invited to attend at 104 Watson Rd.
◆ Church Revival — The Light Outreach of Holiness Temple's revival will be Aug. 7-12 at 7p.m. Prophet Conley, pastor of Breakthough Harvest Church in Chicago, will team up with Pastor Mary Meeks of Bethesda Outreach Ministries in Gay, Indiana. ◆ Church Service Changes — Starting in August, all second Sunday worship services at Finding Your Way Through Christ Ministries will begin 9:00 a.m., followed by Sunday School. ◆ Tiaze Service — Prayers with the songs of Taizé will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection at 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 6. Contemplative and ecumenical in nature, the candlelight service includes 40 minutes of singing, prayers, readings, and silence. Please bring one item for food pantry donation if possible. ◆ New Service at First Baptist — First Baptist Church of Starkville will be launching a 4 p.m. service on Aug. 13 for those that currently are nunable to come on Sunday morning. It will be held in our Warehouse instead of the sanctuary to allow a more laid back atmosphere. All are invited to attend

◆ Walking Trail—Adaton United Methodist Church has established a quarter-mile walking/jogging trail near the church, located at 303 Reed Road., West-Starkville. The path is accessible daily from dawn to dusk. No pets or wheeled vehicles allowed on the trail
◆ Prayers with the Songs of Taize—Prayers with the Songs of Taizé is held at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection the first Sunday of each month at 6 p.m. The service includes candlelight, singing, prayers, readings, periods of silence, and lasts about 45 minutes
◆ Starkville Healing Rooms—Starkville Healing Rooms meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Mondays at the Sportsplex.
