school football team, you have to travel two hours to a game so it makes sense to play a quality opponent right down the street and it's an opportunity for both schools to get better and play a close, local ball game.”

Price's Wolverines have not felt the sting of a loss this season, but the Vols are attempting to bounce back from a 35-21 defeat at the hands of Indianola Academy last week.

Nicholson wished his squad would have given the Colonels “a better punch” in the game and hopes it was a learning experience.

“We held a few punches back, but that's the way the game is played and how the ball bounces,” Nicholson said. “They left knowing we didn't play our best game and we left punches out there. I think it humbles us, motivates us and gets our eyes back on the direction where we really want to go. I think we get nothing but good out of the loss. We're bouncing back to get back on track.”

Starkville Academy will be led into the game by its duo-quarterback tandem of Noah Methvin and Ben Owens. Owens has completed 21-of-47 pass attempts for 227 yards and four touchdowns, while Methvin has completed 10-of-16 pass attempts for 137 pass attempts and a pair of scores.

Taylor Arnold leads the Vols in rushing with 29 carries for 193 yards and one touchdown. Raegan Richardson has 13 catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns in the receiving department.

Defensively, Howell Archer tops the unit with 35 tackles. He returned an interception 24 yards for a score against Indianola Academy.

Archer is ready to get right back on the field with his teammates and make up for not pulling out a victory in the Delta last week.

“We're looking to see what we can do after a loss – our first of the season,” Archer said. “We learned some of our weaknesses and our strengths. We're going to work on a couple of things and we'll be ready.”
