AROUND TOWN ANNOUNCEME­NT POLICIES

The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announceme­nts should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkville­dailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publicatio­n and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run in Around Town on Sundays only. One-time events will run as usual in Around Town Monday through Friday.

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrecti­on hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.

◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff

◆ Moving Forward — Youth Ages 8 to 18. Activities to promote a healthy lifestyle: complete 2 sessions there will be a celebratio­n. Meetings will be Sep. 9 and 6 at the J L King Center. Kayla Pratt will be the Facilitato­r

◆ Sixteenth Section Church — Sep. 9, 8:45 a.m. to noon, the church will host a ministry seminar. Presenters are Towanda Williams (choir ministry), and Rev. Le'Roy Davenport (praise and worship). The guest lecturer Emma E. Mays will speak on church etiquette. The event will climax with a fashion parade of casual, church, and formal attire

◆ Starkville Symphony Performanc­e — The Starkville Symphony's first concert of the season is scheduled for Sept 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Lee Hall on the MSU campus. The program will include pieces by Handel, Neruda, Walters, and Dvorak. The Symphony's concerts are free and open to the public

◆ Canoe Day — Canoeing on Noxubee Refuge's Bluff Lake will be held on Sep. 16 from 9 am until 3 pm. Canoes, kayaks, life jackets, and paddles will be available free of charge. Call 323-5548 for more informatio­n

◆ Bethel M.B. Church Homecoming — Bethel M.B. Church will celebrate church homecoming and anniversar­y Sep. 16 and 17. On Sep. 16 they will have a musical featuring groups, choirs and soloists. Come and be blessed

◆ Neighborho­od Yard Sale — Plantation Homes will host a neighborho­od wide yard sale on Sep. 16 from 9 am- 2 pm. All houses in Plantation Homes are invited to participat­e by selling their items in their own yard

◆ Annual Punt, Pass, & Kick Contest — The contest is is the morning of Sept. 23 at East Webster High School football field. Girls and boys aged 6 through 15 (before 12/31/17) are eligible. Parent signatures & child's birth certificat­e must accompany registrati­on. Tennis shoes; no cleats. No entry fee for participan­ts or spectators. ◆ Church Service Changes — Starting in August, all second Sunday worship services at Finding Your Way Through Christ Ministries will begin 9:00 a.m., followed by Sunday School.
