Mississippi State men's golf head coach Dusty Smith has accepted an invitation to the Autotrader Collegiate Classic,
Ga. by Georgia State University.
“We are thankful for the opportunity that Georgia State gave us by adding us to the field this late,” Smith said. “Our team is looking forward to competing in the Autotrader Collegiate Classic in October.”
The invitation came after Mississippi State's season opener, set for Sept. 11-12 at Invitational at the Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, S.C., was canceled due to the threat of Hurricane Irma.
The Autotrader Collegiate Classic will be the third of four competitions for the Bulldogs in the fall, falling in between the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate, taking place Oct. 9-10, and the Quail Valley Collegiate, happening Oct. 23-24.
Mississippi State will compete against 15 other programs in Duluth, all non-conference opponents. The field consists of UT-Chattanooga, UNC Greensboro, Augusta, Richmond, Francis Marion, Boston College, Lipscomb, Kansas, host Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Winthrop, Bowling Green, Yale, Davidson and Notre Dame.
