Both the Vols and the Pa­tri­ots bring 7-1 over­all marks into the 7 p.m. matchup.

Her­itage opened the sea­son with three-straight vic­to­ries over Kirk Academy 4620, Manchester Academy 3-0 and Wayne Academy 42-16.

After suf­fer­ing their only

loss of the sea­son to La­mar School 27-3, the Pa­tri­ots have started rolling once again with wins over Pil­low Academy 42-38, Mag­no­lia Heights 31-18, Leake Academy 35-31 and Win­ston Academy 28-7.

“They’ve got­ten bet­ter ev­ery week it seems like,” Ni­chol­son said. “Coach Har­ri­son does a good job with those

guys. He has a lot of weapons and good play­ers.”

One of those weapons is se­nior run­ning back Don­tae Gray. Her­itage Academy tries to get him in­volved in the of­fense as much as pos­si­ble.

“We go to him as much as we can,” Har­ri­son said.

The Pa­tri­ots have a sopho­more quar­ter­back in Carter

Putt. Other lead­ers are ju­nior free safety Moak Grif­fin and ju­nior corner­back Lex Rogers, who has had five in­ter­cep­tions in the last two weeks.

“We are young and in­ex­pe­ri­enced group, but they’ve grown up re­ally fast,” Har­ri­son said. “I’ve been re­ally proud of them and they are a fun group to coach.”
