There are 10 mem­bers of the Mis­sis­sippi State soft­ball team that earned National Fast Pitch Coaches As­so­ci­a­tion All-Amer­ica Schol­arAth­lete hon­ors for the 2016-17 aca­demic year, the or­ga­ni­za­tion an­nounced.

To qual­ify for the honor, stu­den­tath­letes must main­tain a cu­mu­la­tive grade point av­er­age of 3.5 or higher over the fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters.

Five of the 10 Bull­dogs hon­ored re­turn for the 2017-18 sea­son, in­clud­ing se­nior Car­men Carter, ju­niors Emily He­im­berger and Taylor Kelly and sopho­mores Emily Mitchell and Lind­sey Wil­liams. The re­main­ing five hon­orees of Katie Anne Bailey, Olivia Golden, Caro­line Seitz, Alexis Silk­wood and Macken­zie Toler were part of MSU’s tal­ented 2017 se­nior class that led the pro­gram to its fifth NCAA Regional over the last six sea­sons.

The Bull­dogs were also hon­ored as a 2016-17 Eas­ton/NFCA Di­vi­sion I All-Aca­demic Team as State turned in a 3.210 cu­mu­la­tive GPA as a team to rank amongst the top 125 pro­grams across the coun­try.
