There is a strong senior presence at the guard position for this season's Mississippi State women's basketball team.

On Tuesday, two of them were selected to the All-Southeastern Conference preseason team by the media.

Victoria Vivians and Morgan William were the Bulldogs on the list and MSU was the only program to have two representatives on the five-player squad.

Even though she has been with the Bulldogs for a while now, William said there is still room for growth in terms of leadership and communication.

“(I'm) just doing what coach (Vic) Schaefer needs me to do,” William said. “I have to lead his way. I'm just trying to grow every day and learn something new every day. There's always a new adjustment you have to learn from. When times get hard, how are you going to address it and make it better? You have to learn day by day. It's not easy, but you have to do it.”

William closed the 2016-17 season in style by being selected the Oklahoma City Regional Most Outstanding Player and making the All-Final Four team. She was also second team All-SEC and an Associated Press All-American.

During the season, William averaged 10.9 points per game. Her biggest two points came on a winning shot in overtime as MSU knocked off Connecticut 66-64.

Schaefer is glad to have William's voice as a part of the Bulldog backcourt once again.

“Certainly you want to hear her voice
