SA basketball teams lose

MADDEN – It was a tough night for the Starkville Academy basketball teams at Leake Academy on Tuesday night.

The Lady Volunteers dropped a 52-20 decision in the first game, while the boys lost 62-44 in the nightcap.

It was a good start to the game for the Vols as they led 16-12 after one quarter, but they saw Leake tie the game 23-23 at halftime and went on to out-score the visitors 39-21 in the second half.

Raegan Richardson led SA in scoring with 22 points, while his brother Brady pulled down 11 rebounds.

In the girls game, Leake took control immediatel­y with a 17-5 advantage after the first quarter and led 37-12 at halftime.
