The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Donations for Homeless Students — Starkville Oktibbeha School District's Project HELP is seeking donations of hygiene supplies, school supplies, school uniforms (new or used in good condition), socks and undergarments for homeless students. ◆ Rotary — The Starkville Rotary Club meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club
◆ Respite Care — Emerson family center will host free childcare for families for ages 8 weeks to 5 years while parents attend Doctor's Appointments, Adult Education Classes, Grocery Shopping, Job Interviews etc. Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to noon
◆ Adult Education Classes — Ages 16 and Older, Earn your High School Equivalency, Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. - noon at the J.L. King Center. Tempe O' Nan will be the Instructor at JL King and Laura Thurmond and Jean Ann Foxworth will be the Instructor for Emerson
◆ Work Keys Info Session and Practice — Ages 16 and Older, Key to Finding Gainful Employment on Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Emerson Family School
◆ Afterschool Clubs — Art, Fitness, Life Skills, Homework Help, Literacy clubs will meet Monday- Thursday from 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at the J.L. King Center
◆ Tutoring — Emerson Family School will host tutoring for students MondayThursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mississippi State Students will be the facilitators

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The First Presbyterian Church a casserole kitchen every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.
◆ Emerson and J.L. King Events — Emerson Family School and the J.L. King Center is hosting events Monday through Thursday. These events include Adult Education Classes, Work Keys Info Session and Practice, Afterschool Clubs, Tutoring and Computer Classes. Details are listed under “Monday”
◆ Toastmasters — Toastmasters meets every Tuesday from 6-7:00 pm in the Conference Room on the first floor of the Sportsplex. Toastmasters is a club that helps members improve their public speaking and leadership skills in a positive atmosphere. Come join us.
◆Kiwanis— Starkville Kiwanis Club will meet at noon Dec. 19 at at The Hilton Garden Inn . Our speaker will be Barbara CoatsFree Little Libraries. Guests are welcome.
◆ Starkville Newcomers and Friends — Starkville Newcomers and Friends Christmas Party will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19 in the Mississippi Room of Cadence Bank. Members are requested to bring a finger food and $10 gift or ornament. Prospective members are welcome.

◆ Emerson Community Story Time — Preschoolers are invited to Emerson Family School every week from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. There will be an activity after reading children will receive free books. Faye Parker and Evan Carter McClelland will be the Facilitators Church of the Resurrection hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.
◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff

◆ Ride for Taylor — A charity motorcycle ride and fish fry benefitting 15-year-old Taylor Young's medical expenses will begin 10 a.m. Dec.16 at Clarksdale High School and end at J.W. Stampley.
