During the public hearing, resident Leah Ellis voiced her concern to the board, saying when other residents come to the board for exceptions for their property they are denied, but when it comes to the city, they are looking to make the exception for themselves.

During discussion, Perkins said the city should "be held to the same standard" as any other developer.

Sistrunk agreed with Perkins by saying the city should follow its own ordinances even in this instance.

Spruill said the city should trust the expertise of Golden Triangle Developmen­t LINK CEO Joe Max Higgins.
