YARNLINGS

-

Neece and Taylor said people will be interested in their products.

With cold weather being the busier time of the year, the two are looking at doing lighter blankets for the spring and have also introduced a new pet line for animals.

With a high demand, and busy schedules, the two are not worried of getting burned out of their hobby.

“We both have full time jobs, so it's hard to balance,” Taylor said.

“You've got to find a balance to not overwhelm yourself,” McNeece said.

They also look at ways to combat the repetitive nature of their work by seeking out new projects and being creative with the current ones. Yes, people could just go and buy a product from larger store, McNeece said, but there is a charm to having something specially made for someone.

“I think a lot of people are starting to get back to valuing that homemade, specialmade product, especially if it's made for that baby,” McNeece said.

Even though the two branded a business in handmade goods, they both are looking for ways to give back to the community.

One community member came to them

with a bag full of yarn when someone's mother-in-law with dementia could not finish a blanket. The two finished the blanket and gave it back to the family free of charge.

Both McNeece and Taylor also knit hats for all of the newborns at OCH Regional Medical Center and in Tupelo. She said they donate around 10 to 15 hats during the month. As for newborns, the two also donated leftover baby hats to a hospital unit in Haiti and look to join the Red Hats campaign in February.

“Things like that make it worth it,” McNeece said. “We try to give back.”

Even though the shop is increasing its traffic,

the two hope one day they can crotchet and knit full time. The two joked saying it would be great if they could just quit their jobs and crochet forever because the whole business started over friendship and a hobby.

“What we make we just get tickled over it, we know we're not going to bring in millions,” Taylor said.

“But it's worth millions to us,” McNeece said. Those interested in buying any products from Yarnlings can visit their Facebook page and Instagram account. The best way to contact them is to message them through the applications.
