WOLVERINES

said. “We couldn't ever really get in a rhythm and play like we like to play.

“I think if we played better defense, it'd have been a better ballgame. I'm not saying we wouldn't have lost, but it would've been a better ballgame, but we just didn't play any defense.”

Eupora was led in the game by Jarren Patterson's 13 points.

However the game's outcome was never really in doubt. Fueled by early 3-pointers from Ginn and Brand, East Webster sprinted out to an early 10-2 lead. The Wolverines led 26-10 after the first period and carried a 41-21 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, East Webster kept the pressure on.

The Wolverines led 61-37 after three quarters and coasted to the win.

“We wanted to finish the game for four quarters with a sense of urgency,” Seger said. “We have a ton of respect for (Eupora's) ability and we didn't want to take our foot off the gas and give them any chance to make a comeback.”

East Webster improved its record to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in Class 2A, Region 2 play.

Eupora fell to 8-9 overall and 1-2 in league action.

The sharp shooting of Mari-Todd Brown had East Webster off and running early as it picked up the win in the night's opening game.

Brown hit four 3-pointers in the first half on the way to a 15-point night to pace the Lady Wolverines, who improved

to 10-7 overall this year and 2-1 in region action.

“Our girls are just starting to figure out that they can be a pretty good basketball team,” Seger said. “We're really young and inexperienced in a lot of spots, but MariTodd is a senior and is doing a good job of making shots. We played 12 people in the first quarter, so we're leaning on the fact that hopefully our depth is going to be an advantage for us at times. I was really proud of how hard they played and I'm excited about the young players we have that just keep getting better.”

Eupora's leading scorer was Jasmine Conely. She tallied nine points, but it wasn't enough for the Lady Eagles.

“We fell down early, but our girls played hard,” Turner said. “They play hard every night.”

Eupora fell to 5-11 overall and 1-2 in region play.
