The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Computer Classes — Class for basic skills, keyboard/mouse, internet browsing, create email account Jan. 22 & 29 1 P.M.- 3 P.M. at Emerson Family School. Hakran Kim will be the facilitator.
◆ EMCC Launch Pad — EMMC Launch Pad offers free classes in Adult Education, Workkeys Prep, ACT Prep, Employability Skills Training, and Basic Skills Training. ◆ SPL Discussion of the “Inferno”— On Jan. 16 at 4 p.m. at the Starkville Public Library, Dr. Nancy Hargrove will lead a discussion of Cantos 1-11 of Dante's “Inferno.” Participants should read those cantos along with the short intros and notes for each in Ciardi's translation published by Signet Classics.
◆ Starkville Newcomers and Friends— The club will meet meet in the Mississippi Room of Cadence Bank on Main Street at 10:30 a. m. on Jan. 16. The speaker will be Carol Brown of the Book Mart who will demonstrate “Chair Exercises”.
