Robby Lynn Pounds, 84, formerly of Starkville, passed away on January 16, 2018 at his residence in Magnolia, AR He was born on November 13, 1933 in Bellfontai­ne, MS. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Starkville for over 40 years. He co-owned Pic-Pac and Giant United Grocery Stores and worked for VanLanding­ham Lumber Company for over 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Pounds and father, Ed Pounds of Portland, Oregon; sisters, Beatrice Pounds Hardy and Mary Alice Pounds Mattox.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Zelda Thompson Pounds of Magnolia, AR; daughter, Debbie Pounds Argo and husband Mike of Magnolia, AR; son, Rev. James Barry Pounds and wife, Elaine of Canton, MS; granddaugh­ters, Stephanie Argo McGinnis and husband Edward of Starkville, MS, and Bethany Argo Clark and husband Rev. Reggie Clark of Mitchell, Indiana; grandsons, Jeremy Pounds and wife Nikki of Baton Rouge, LA, Rev. Jason Pounds and wife Erica of Erin, TN, and Joey Pounds and wife Lindsay of Gallatin, TN; and eight grandchild­ren, Ezra, Lenora, Lydia, Everette, Elliott, Greg, Brayden, and River.

Visitation for Mr. Pounds is scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the service immediatel­y following in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Jason Pounds and Rev. Barry Pounds will conduct the service.

Active pallbearer­s will be: Jeremy Pounds, Joey Pounds, Reggie Clark, Edward McGinnis, Mike Latham, and Mike Argo.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be: Roy Latham, Bill Taylor, Larry Mann, Bob Williams, Billy Stacy, Grady Dubose, and Ted Mayden.
