Several candidates were mentioned in a list published by the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office on Friday that documented candidates who were late filing campaign finance reports.

Former state Rep. Tyrone Ellis, a Starkville Democrat, and former Ward 2 Alderman and House candidate Lisa Wynn were included among the list of candidates who had not yet filed campaign finance reports.

The deadline to file was Jan. 31 at 5 p.m.

Ellis told the Starkville Daily News he planned to file his termination report on Monday.

Ellis announced his retirement from the state legislature in June, and Wynn finished second in a three-candidate special election race to fill his seat.

Wynn currently works as chief administrative officer for Moore & Moore Construction Co, LLC.

Wynn told the Starkville Daily News on Sunday that it was an oversight on her part and she planned to file her termination report on Monday.

State Rep. Cheikh Taylor, a Starkville Democrat who ultimately won the special election race for the open House District 38 seat, also failed to file his campaign finance report by the Jan. 31 deadline, but has since filed it, according to the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office.

Mississippi Code Section 23-15-817 states the Secretary of State’s Office is required to publish a list of all candidates for statewide or legislative office who failed to file a campaign finance disclosure report by by the dates specified in Section 23-15-807(b).
