The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ EMCC Launch Pad — EMMC Launch Pad offers free classes in Adult Education, Workkeys Prep, ACT Prep, Employability Skills Training, and Basic Skills Training. ◆Jacket Job Fair — The Starkville Oktibbeha School District will hosts its first ever job fair to recruit teachers for all grades and disciplines for the 2018-19 school year. The Jacket Job Fair will be held Feb.12, from 4 until 6 pm at Sudduth Elementary School.

Dr. Chris Ayers of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture at Mississippi State University will present “Canada Geese and DoubleCrested Cormorants: Conservation Success and Conflict”. ◆Oktibbeha Master Gardeners— Oktibbeha Master Gardeners will host an interest meeting at 9 a.m. for prospective members and their monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Feb. 8 at the Oktibbeha County Extension Service Office.
◆Science Night at the Museum— MSU will host free museum tours and science activities in entemology, archaeology, geosciences, veterinary science, astronomy, physics and more 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Hilbun Hall and Cobb Institute.
◆NARFE Meeting— The National Active & Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) will meet Feb. 22 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Hwy. 12 east.. Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch is served at 11:30 a.m..
