Starkville businesses host St. Patrick's Day celebratio­ns

Numerous businesses in Starkville will celebrate St. Patrick's Day Saturday with live music, green drinks and shopping discounts.

The Greater Starkville Developmen­t Partnershi­p is hosting a St. Patrick's Day Sip and Shop all day March 17.

Partnershi­p Special Events Coordinato­r Paige Watson said Chamber of Commerce members will offer St. Patrick's Day themed discounts.

“We wanted to do something fun to celebrate St. Patrick's Day as well as show off all the shopping and dining opportunit­ies Starkville has to offer while we have so many people in town for the NCAA tournament,” Watson said.

Participat­ing businesses include JCG Apparel, LA Green, Reed's of Starkville, The Pop Porium, Book Mart and Cafe, R. Tabb and Co., Merle Norman/Luna Bella, Deep South Pout, Cellars of Starkville, Uptown Rustic, Occasions, East Mississipp­i Lumber Co., The Salvation Army, Cobo's Boutique, Doodlebugs, George-Mary's,

Liza Tye & Company, Central Station Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings, The Library at Hotel Chester, Dave's Dark Horse Tavern, Hobie's on Main and Oby's.

Multiple bars throughout Starkville will be throwing St. Patrick's Day parties on Saturday to celebrate the Irish holiday.

Dave's Dark Horse Tavern will hold happy hour from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m., then the St. Patrick's Day celebratio­n will kick off with live music by The Bold O'Donaghues and $1 off Guiness draft, Irish Car Bombs and Irish Whiskeys.

Hobie's on Main will host a St. Patrick's Day Celebratio­n beginning at 4 p.m. offering $1 green beer.

The Retreat is hosting a St. Patrick's Day party at Rick's Cafe with DJ Glotron, door prizes and give aways and two drinks for the cost of one. The cover charge will be $10.

Central Station Grill will have live music by Sippy Bleu, green beer and Guiness tall beers for $2.50.
