- By DANNY P. SMITH sports@starkvilledailynews.com

It didn't take long for Victoria Vivians to secure second place in Mississippi State history on the career scoring chart.

With her jumper to put the Bulldogs up 2-0 early, Vivians passed Tan White into second place. She only needed one point going into Monday night's NCAA Tournament second round game against Oklahoma State.

Vivians did not enjoy a great shooting night, but finished with 23 points as MSU defeated Oklahoma State 71-56 at Humphrey Coliseum to advance to its thirdstraight Sweet 16.

Despite hitting only 4-of-13 shooting in the first half, Vivians still had 13 points in the first 20 minutes and started putting distance between her and White.

Vivians now has 2,445 career points and only trails LaToya Thomas on the school's all-time scoring list. Thomas had 2,981 points from 1999-2003.

Vivians is first among active Southeastern Conference scorers and is third by a current Division I athlete.

It was VIvians' 17th 20-point game of the season.

MSU junior center Teaira McCowan recorded her 25th doubledouble of the season and the 35th for her career with 21 points and 18 rebounds against Oklahoma State.

She is now tied for second place in career double-doubles with the Bulldogs.

MSU won its 20th-straight game at the Humphrey Coliseum on Monday night. It's a streak that has lasted a full calendar year.

With the victory over the Cowgirls, the Bulldogs tied the all-time wins mark in a season with their 34th. That tied last year's mark when MSU finished 34-5 in its run to the 2017 Final Four and national championship game.
