The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@ starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Donations for Homeless Students — Starkville Oktibbeha School District’s Project HELP is seeking donations of hygiene supplies, school supplies, school uniforms (new or used in good condition), socks and undergarments for homeless students. It is open to high school seniors in the SOCSD planning to further their education beyond high school. ◆ Emerson and J.L. King Events — Emerson Family School and the J.L. King Center is hosting events Monday through Thursday. These events include Adult Education Classes, Work Keys Info Session and Practice, Afterschool Clubs, Tutoring and Computer Classes. Details are listed under “Monday”
◆Parent Cafe — Emerson Family School will host Parent Cafe “Parental Resilience” April 19 and 26 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. Tammie Tubbs will be the facilitator.
◆NARFE Meeting — The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) will meet April 26 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Highway 12 East in Starkville. Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch is served at 11:30. The guest speaker will be Kim Vance, Vice-President of Pondera Financial Group in Ridgeland. All active and retired Federal employees are encouraged to attend the meeting and invited to join the NARFE Chapter.
◆Historical and Genealogical Society - The Historical and Genealogical Society will hold their monthly meeting at the Starkville Public Library April 26 at 7 p.m. Sandy Ramsey will present the program on The Clairborne at Adalaide. All are welcome to attend.
◆AARP — The Starkville Chapter #165 of AARP will hold its next monthly meeting on May 3 at 10 a.m. in the Mississippi Room of Cadence Bank on Main Street. The program speaker is Scott Maynard, CEO of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership. Please enter the Bank Building through the back parking lot doors. ◆NAACP Freedom Awards Banquet— The Oktibbeha County branch of the NAACP will host it’s Annual Freedom Awards Banquet Friday April 27 at 6:30 p.m. at Starkville Sportplex Travis Outlaw center 405 Lynn Lane with guest speaker Rep.Cheikh Taylor MS House of Representatives District 38.

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church
◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.
◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff
◆Family Fellowship— Sixteenth Section Church will host a family fellowship on April 28 at 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Rev. Timothy Brinkley of Mt. Hermon M.B. Church in West Point will be the guest speaker. Lunch will be served.
