Johnson Lafayette “Fete” Carr, Sr

Mr. Johnson Lafayette “Fete” Carr, Sr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississipp­i. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Keen, Rev. Greg Thomas, Rev. Grady Crowell and Rev. Michael Wells officiatin­g. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Ellison Ridge Baptist Church.

Fete was born March 2, 1939, in Winston County, Mississipp­i, to Therrell and Eldeen Sullivan Carr, Sr. He was a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church and attended Bethel Baptist Church. He was a retired welder and logger as well as a “jack of all trades”.

Mr. Fete is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janie Triplett Carr; his daughter, Becky LaFaye Carr; son, Johnson Lafayette Carr, Jr., all of Louisville. He also leaves behind his sister, Betty Stokes and husband, Edward; and two brothers, Dewayne Carr and wife, Kathy; and Anthony Carr and wife, Frances. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his infant brother, Bobby Joe Carr.

Serving as pallbearer­s are Hayden Carr, Mark Dempsey, Allen Hailey, Malcolm Hailey, Dewayne Ming, Kylie Ming, Gage Parker, Jay Stokes, and Tyler Wright. Memorial contributi­ons in honor of Fete may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or Ellison Ridge Baptist Church, c/o Kathy Carr, 13 Ellison Ridge Church Road, Louisville, MS 39339.

Services are under the direction of NowellMass­ey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS.
