The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Rotary — The Starkville Rotary Club meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club
◆ EMCC Launch Pad — EMMC Launch Pad offers free classes in Adult Education, Workkeys Prep, ACT Prep, Employability Skills Training, and Basic Skills Training. ◆ Anger Management classes — Anger management classes will be Mondays 9:30 A.M.-11:00 P.M at the Golden Triangle Planning and Development. ◆ Grandparents Raising Grandchildren — Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program will be every Monday at 10:30-11 a.m. at Emerson Family Care Center.
◆Comp◆ter classes— Computer classes will be Mondays from 1:30 P.M.2:30 P.M. at the J.L. King Center. Hakran Kim will be the Facilitator.
◆SPL Friends of the Library Book Sale— The Starkville Public Library Friends of the Library monthly book sale will be held May 7 from noon - 6 p.m. All ‘Sales Room’ nonfiction books will be $1, all Sales Room hardback fiction books will be featured as “buy one for $3 or two for $4.” As always a large collection of both hardback and paperbacks will be available at nominal prices.

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The First Presbyterian Church a casserole kitchen every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.

◆Books and Authors — Starkville native Joe Lee will discuss his new novel 40 Days at the Starkville Public Library on Thursday, May 10, at 12:00 p.m., at the Books and Authors event sponsored by Friends of the Library. Refreshments will be available at 11:30 prior to the talk, and a book signing will follow the presentation.

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.
◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff
