Pell City, Ala.-James Michael “Mike” Dawson, 64, died unexpected­ly Friday, June 1, 2018 at his residence in Pell City, Ala. Born May 25, l954 in Prattville, Ala. to the late Rheuben Andrew Dawson and Louella Wyatt Dawson, he grew up in Prattville and graduated from Autauga Academy. He attended Auburn University where he received his Bachelors Degree. Mike had a 34 year career with the Internal Revenue Service in Columbus and Tupelo, Mississipp­i. He and his wife, Donnie, had resided in Starkville for 22 years and, in 2017, purchased a home in Pell City, Ala. on Logan-Martin Lake where they had planned to spend their retirement. Mike most enjoyed spending time with his family but did greatly enjoy sporting events of all type especially his beloved Auburn Tigers. He will be sorely missed.

A service celebratin­g his life will be held at 2 PM Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Boone’s Chapel United Methodist Church southwest of Okolona with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Corley, his uncle by marriage, will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 PM-service time Sunday only at the Church. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving the family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Alice Mae Allen “Donnie” Dawson of Starkville and Pell City, Ala-to whom he married Sept. 28, 1080 in Columbus, MS.; his daughter, Brittain Dawson Benton and her husband, Jordan Barry Benton of Oxford, Alabama and his son, Brad Michael Dawson and his wife, Paige Isbell Dawson of Birmingham, Ala. 2 granddaugh­ters, Blaire Isabel Dawson and Brooklynn Ella Benton. 3 siblings, Rhueben Andrew Dawson, Jr (Joyce) of Birmingham, Ala., Jerry Dale Dawson (Diane) of Sylacauga, Ala. and Ricky Nelson Dawson of Prattville, Ala. several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Peg Dawson Sheridan and her husband, Charles.
