IT TAKES ALL KINDS
A concerned community member reported a duck in their backyard and Animal Control went out and picked it up to deliver it to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society. The duck was examined by a veterinarian and was sent to a farm on Tuesday night. Animal Control also found a sick pigeon a few weeks ago at the Starkville Police Department. After some love and care from a wildlife rehabber, the bird came into the shelter to find a home. OCHS says someone was interested in adopting a bird and the pigeon was sent to a new home on Wednesday afternoon. “It's not very often we are able to place exotic animals right away,” said OCHS General Manager Christy Wells.
