The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announceme­nts should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkville­dailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publicatio­n and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Rotary — The Starkville Rotary Club meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club

◆ EMCC Launch Pad — EMMC Launch Pad offers free classes in Adult Education, Workkeys Prep, ACT Prep, Employabil­ity Skills Training, and Basic Skills Training. ◆ Casserole Kitchen — The First Presbyteri­an Church a casserole kitchen every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.

◆Childbirth Classes— Childbirth classes will be every Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Emerson Family Resource Center. Call (662) 320-4607 to preregiste­r. Havilah Couvillion, RN, MSN, will instuct the class on relaxation techniques during labor and delivery on June 19.

◆Active Parenting Classes— Active Parenting classes will be every Tuesday at 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Emerson Family Center.

◆Starkville Kiwanis— Starkville Kiwanis Club will meet Tues June 19 at noon at The Hilton Garden inn. The speaker will be Terry Kemp. Manager at Starkville Utilties Electricit­y.

◆S◆per Dads!— Super Dads! with Michael Jones will be at 5:30 p.m. June 28 at the J.L. King Center, 700 N. Long Street.

◆St◆rgis Summer Reading Program— All children and their parents who live in the Sturgis-Oktibbeha County Area are invited to come to the Sturgis Public Library on June 14 from 10 to 11 a.m.. for a sing- along time with the Starkville Homeschool Music Cooperativ­e's Ukelele Club. This will be the the first day of the Sturgis Public Library Summer Reading Program, and all children are urged to pre-register. A rock collecting program and a program about fire safety are planned for June 21 and June 28 from 10-11 a.m. All children are encouraged to read books on their reading level to compete for a prize at the end of the program on June 28. .

◆NAACP Monthly Meeting— Oktibbeha County branch of the Naacp monthly meeting will be held June 14 at 6 p.m. Courthouse on Main Street, last meeting before National Convention in San Antonio, Texas. ◆SAAC Member Drive— The Starkville Area Arts Council will hold its annual Membership Drive from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 14 at Hotel Chester. The event is free and open to the public. Come see how SAAC strives to build the community through art and how your membership can make a difference. ◆SHS

Class of 1993 Reunion — Starkville High School Class of 1993 will hold their 25 Year Reunion June 15 & 16. Several events are planned to reconnect with classmates. Go to www.shs93.com for details, to purchase tickets and to RSVP.

◆Comm◆nity Story Time — Community Story Time takes place every Friday at 10 a.m. at Emerson Family Resource Center.

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrecti­on hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.

◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff

◆Starkville Book Mart Book Signing and Reading — Illustrato­r Denise Lewis Waldrep will be signing and reading “Batrocks and Greenie” at 10 a.m. June 16 at Starkville Book Mart and Cafe. Waldrep is a Starkville native and MSU graduate.

◆ Donations for Homeless Students — Starkville Oktibbeha School District's Project HELP is seeking donations of hygiene supplies, school supplies, school uniforms (new or used in good condition), socks and undergarme­nts for homeless students.
