Missing suspects turn themselves in
A man allegedly involved in an armed robbery off County Lake Road is now in custody.
Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Office Investigations Lt. Jon Davis confirmed that 25-year-old Joshua Norman turned himself without incident at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, and made his initial municipal court appearance Monday. A second suspect, 26-year-old Courtney Clay was apprehended after the incident and charged with Armed robbery and burglary.
In an initial appearance, her bond was set at $100,000 per count. Both Norman and Clay have criminal histories, with Norman being indicted for armed robbery in 2009 after taking a man's money by threatening him with a beer bottle. Clay was in the pre-trial agreement program after being indicted for malicious mischief in April 2018, after causing more than $1,000 but less than $5,000 in damage to a Ford Taurus.
In a separate incident, another criminal on the run turned himself in Friday.
Chad Tharp, a 46-year-old man with an aggravated assault warrant, turned himself in to Oktibbeha County Sherriff's deputies at approximately 8 p.m. Friday. A second man wanted in the same incident, 46-year-old Jonathan Fleming, was captured and arrested at a residence on Hebron Road in Chickasaw County.
The assault took place at approximately 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
The unnamed victims were transported to OCH Regional Medical Center.
Both men had their initial appearances in court Saturday. Tharp's bond was set at $6,000, and Fleming's was set at $15,500.
Tharp has no prior felonies, but was indicted by grand jury in 2017, after helping Daniel Easley avoid arrest after breaking into a vehicle. The case was dismissed following his completion of the pretrial diversion program. Fleming was indicted on a charge of possession of less than two grams of methamphetamine last year, but was not convicted.
