He's Working It Out

- GAVIS MOSLEY FAITH COLUMNIST

Our God is a good God. He is holy and righteous. He sees the best in each of us and he desires that we come unto him and rest in his comfort. He is the one and only true living God of blessings and assurance.

John 14: 1-3 tells us “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” Here, Jesus shares the plan of salvation… he lets us know that there is but one way to our Lord God and that is through him. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the light in the midst of darkness. He is our blessed assurance that one day, one fine day, we will be with our Lord. Know that Jesus desires that we taste of the Lord, for he is good.

But while we wait for this day…as we journey here on earth…as we experience the issues of life…as we learn of God and perfect our walk in him…it is critical that we know, that we share the confidence in Romans 8:28. It confirms for us …come what may…we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

God works in eternity. We have but a snapshot of life while God sits with the gallery in view. He knows all things. And as believers, we must know that God is always at work in our lives. Our assurance lies in the word of God. It is in the word that we must depend, it is there that we will grow, it is there that we will find life. As we experience life, know the word found in Jeremiah 1:5 where he says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Oh yes, he's speaking to you, words of comfort to the believer and those who will come to believe. We have all fallen short of the glory of God, yet he loves us, the more, through our good, our bad and our ugly.

In his love, he continues to seek the heart of man, even when we are not seeking him. It's important to know that what we have done, the bad choices we have made, the things that we have said…do not determine who we are in Christ. God has already appointed our time and place in him. Nothing that has occurred in our life is a surprise to God, he loves us. God is in full control of our lives and is aware of every circumstance. He has an appointed destination for us and by the process of life…its challenges…its successes…its calamity and its blessings…during our periods of obedience as well as disobedience…during our times of faithfulness as well as times of doubts… during our displays of wisdom as well as those of foolishness…god is near. He knows the plan that he has for us and it will be fulfilled.

As we journey, God isn't looking for perfection, but he does expect progress. In him, we have a chance to live life and life more abundantly. He's our God of another chance, our God of another day, our God of a renewed mind and heart. He is our God of grace, love and mercy. He is our God of forgiveness. He is our God of salvation. He is the God of our good getting better, our bad being not so bad and our ugly fading away. It is our ministry, our purpose to share with a dying world the marvelous news, the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to arm ourselves with the love and word of God and share the victory found in Jesus Christ.

In his working it out…he takes our mess and gives us a message to share to one who is seeking a better way of life. He takes the mistakes of the past and turns them into stories of success. Be encouraged my sister and my brother, for he's working it out.
