During Keep America Beautiful's National Awards Ceremony held in Baltimore on Feb. 7. Keep Starkville Beautiful was honored with the William “Bill” Nash Award. The award is given to a new Keep America Beautiful affiliate for outstanding achievement in implementing the Keep America Beautiful Behavior Change System in its community.

Since launching in 2017, Keep Starkville Beautiful has helped to reduce littering, beautify public spaces and improve recycling in the area. The organization has been involved with multiple beautification and cleanup efforts locally, including its annual Get Swept Up campaign, which allows volunteers to help clean the city prior to Mississippi State University home football games. It has also helped revamp two city parks and enhance public recycling options, including the placement of 30 recycling bins placed in public parks with funds from the Keurig Dr. Pepper/keep America Beautiful Park Recycling Bin Grant Program award.

“Keep Starkville Beautiful is leveraging resources from local volunteers and partnering with its municipal leaders and the private sector to get things done,” said Keep America Beautiful President and CEO Helen Lowman. “This is a model new affiliate, and one that is very deserving of receiving this year's Bill Nash Award.”

Keep Starkville Beautiful was one of more than 80 organizations and individuals from across the country to receive national recognition.

Other Mississippi organizations have also won the William Nash Award including Keep Canton Beautiful in 2018, Keep Ridgeland Beautiful in 2016 and Keep The Rez Beautiful in 2013.
