The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announceme­nts should be submitted via e-mail to life@ starkville­dailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publicatio­n and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Rotary — The Starkville Rotary Club meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club.

◆ EMCC Launch Pad — EMCC Launch Pad offers free classes in Adult Education, Workkeys Prep, ACT Prep, Employabil­ity Skills Training, and Basic Skills Training. We offer free test vouchers and other incentives for qualifying students. Classes are offered Mondaythur­sday in morning, afternoon, or evening. PLEASE CALL 662-243-1985 for more informatio­n.

◆ Starkville Duplicate Bridge Club — Starkville Duplicate Bridge Club plays a ACBL sanctioned game on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1104 South Louisville Street. Questions: 662-4250075.

◆ Pickleball— The public is invited to play Pickleball at the Sportsplex from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday.

◆ Youth Developmen­t—youth Developmen­t-brickfire Project takes place every Monday from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. at the J.L. King Center.

◆ The Starkville Public Library Friends of the Library monthly book sale will be held Monday, July 1st from Noon-6:00 pm. The Friends is pleased to announce the usual assortment of fiction and nonfiction books in both hard cover and paperback at prices ranging from 50 cents to $3. Also, just in time for summer reading the July sale will also feature a collection of older paperback books in excellent condition as well as STARKVILLE­DAILYNEWS.COM

◆ Al-anon meeting — Al-anon meets every Tuesday night from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM at The Church of the Resurrecti­on 105 N Montgomery St, Starkville, MS 39759. “Al-anon meetings focus on coping with the effects of someone’s addiction, One Day at a Time.”

◆ Emerson Free Childbirth Classes— The Emerson Family Center offers free childbirth classes each Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in February, June, and October. First week’s topic: Parent/infant Bonding and Breastfeed­ing- Nadia Mcclelland, La Leche League Leader. Second week: Pregnancy and Childbirth- Dorothy Clowers, LLLL, Certified Doula. Third week: Nutrition for Mother and Baby- Jacqueline Hodges, MS, RDN, LD, MS Department of Health. Fourth week: Infant and Child Care- Katie Buys, DNP, FNP, MPH, Family Nurse Practition­er.
