Soccer

Mississipp­i State will close the soccer preseason with a home exhibition match today against in-state foe Southern Miss.

The first on-campus athletic event of the 2019-20 academic year will kick off at 4 p.m. Free pizza is available for freshmen beginning at 3:15 p.m. Additional­ly, fans can earn 150 Hail State Rewards points and 150 Bully's Kids Club points for attending.

The two teams met in the spring with the Bulldogs claiming a 4-3 victory in exhibition play on the back of junior AK Ward's hat trick.

State will open the regular season at home on Aug. 22 when the Bulldogs host Alabama A&M at 6 p.m. That match will air live on SEC Network+.

In other soccer related news released Thursday, Mississipp­i State soccer will play for a national television audience on two occasions in the 2019 season. Both matches will take place in Starkville, putting State's fan base on display.

The 25th chapter of the Magnolia Cup rivalry will air on SEC Network on Sept. 26. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. MSU is looking to claim the trophy outright for the first time since 2012. The Bulldogs broke a three-match losing streak with a tie in 2017.

State's penultimat­e home game against Georgia will air on ESPNU on Oct. 20. The battle between the Bulldogs kicks off at 4 p.m. The two programs last met in 2017 when MSU snapped an eight-match losing streak with a 3-0 victory in Athens.

All of the Bulldogs' remaining home regular-season contests will be available on SEC Network+. The entire non-conference schedule will be available to stream this year, as MSU'S only road matches at Idaho and Eastern Washington will be available on Watchbigsk­y.com.

MSU opens the season on Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. when the Bulldogs host Alabama A&M.

Volleyball

The Mississipp­i State volleyball program will appear in four nationally televised matches during the 2019 season, the Southeaste­rn Conference office announced Wednesday.

The schedule includes two home contests at the Newellgris­som Building on the campus of MSU, as well as two road matches for the Bulldogs. State's first three matches in the month of October will all be televised.

State's first televised match will come against in-state rival Ole Miss, October 4 at Newell-grissom. State's second home match of the 2019 campaign will be shown live on the SEC Network, beginning at 6 p.m.

Two days later, ESPNU will pick up the Bulldogs' bout on the road against South Carolina, October 6 at noon. The network will follow the team to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as MSU faces off against the Crimson Tide on October 9 at 6 p.m.

MSU'S October 25 home match with Auburn can be seen on SEC Network. The Bulldogs will look for their third-straight home win against the Tigers after defeating them 3-2 at Newellgris­som in 2018.
