Civic League Christmas Tour of Homes Preview
Tom and Brooke Lammert are the homeowners of the Worley Street house on this year's Starkville Civic League Christmas Tour of Homes. Tom is an instructor in the Mississippi State University Department of English, and Brooke is employed in the MSU Department of Entrepreneurship and Outreach.
With their 2 children, 3-yearold Rowan and 10-month-old Ellis, and and Labradoodle Honey, the Lammerts said they are enoying the house that several families have lived in over the past approximately 150.
The exact year of construction is not known, but it is believed the house was built during the latter half of the 19th century, according to Tom. The Lammerts purchased the house from the Stuart Herring and the late Kittye-dell Robbins-herring.
Although the Lammerts purchased the house more than 2 years ago, they have lived in it only a year because of its extensive renovations.
The community sometimes calls it the HGTV House because the network commissioned Starkville native siblings Amanda Kelly and Austin Schaffer to film a pilot episode for the show Hammer to the Manor with this home. In January 2018, Kelly, Schaffer and Byrum Construction started to plan the partial renovation. A few months later, a film crew began documenting the work on the house's living room, dining room, kitchen and the entire exterior. Their project was finished in April 2018.
The Lammerts did not move into the house until renovations on the remaining rooms were completed about 6 month later in September.
“For the past year, our family has loved every minute spent in the home,” Tom said.
