Turman provides point production for Hebron boys

Dash away, Dash away, Dash away all.

When it comes to point production for the Hebron Christian School boys basketball team, Dash Turman is building momentum as the Christmas break nears.

Turman had 32 points in Hebron’s win over Calhoun Academy and poured in 42 points as the Eagles edged a public school opponent Hamilton High School 61-60.

“God has just blessed me with a good season right now,” Turman said. “We’ve been practicing and working hard on it.”

The recent play of Turman has gotten him OCH Regional Medical Center Athlete of the Week recognition.

Hebron boys coach Rease Gairham said Turman has been a key to the team’s success while players have been out with injuries.

“He’s had to step,” Gairham said. “He’s just playing his game now and having fun with it. Now that we are getting players back, he is slowly getting pieces to help pass him the ball. He’s able to pass it off and not everyone just focusing on him.”

Turman had 20 more points in a 50-48 loss to Starkville Christian School on Monday night.

Prior to the games against the Cougars, Turman has averaged 27.25 points per game. With another 20-point outing on Monday, that average won’t take too much of a hit.

Turman can drive to the basket and score in transition, but where he’s especially dangerous is from beyond the 3-point line.

“That’s what I work on mostly in practice,” Turman said of his 3-point shooting. “It’s just something I’ve always taken pride in being able to shoot 3s.”

The best thing about Turman for Reese is that he’s just a junior.

“I’ve got another year with him,” Reese said.
