Funds allocated for Poorhouse, Blackjack roads projects
More funds have been put toward two Oktibbeha County road projects as of Tuesday.
The funds total $1,500,000, and have come down from Jackson with the aid of lobbying firm The
Clearwater Group. Of the funds, $1 million will go toward work on Poorhouse Road, while the remaining $500,000 will go toward work on Blackjack Road.
The Poorhouse Road project is shared between District 4 Supervisor Bricklee Miller and District 5 Supervisor Joe Williams. It will include continuing work on the road itself and the installation of a traffic light at the corner of Poorhouse Road and Old Highway 25.
“During the last term the citizens of District 4 witnessed 20 miles of road improvements. One of the last projects was base repairs for Poorhouse Road,” Miller said. “When the new term began, the BOS supported my request for the completion of the project. However, after the estimate was presented it was apparent there was not enough funds through the 4 year road plan to do the entire road.”
got all your deductions there,” Little said. “It’s easier to plan ahead to get some tax deductions than it is to look back.”
Little also said the pandemic had more people filing their taxes electronically, especially since the T.E. Lott office was closed to the public. However, she said she still had met face-to-face with some clients at a picnic table near the building.
“This year was our first year to implement electronic delivery,” Little said. “It’s called Safesend Returns. We actually didn’t have a lot of people that wanted to participate. They still wanted a hard copy of their tax return, but now with COVID, our office is actually closed as a precautionary measure, a lot of people are willing to try it, so we are seeing a lot more people wanting to use that electronic delivery.”
