Peggy Jean Mccormick Fondren

Peggy Jean Mccormick Fondren went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 87 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Edsel Fondren

She is survived by her sons, John Fondren (Lisa) of Baconton, GA, and Jim Fondren (Sharon) of Heflin, La.; and two grandchild­ren, Craig Fondren (Ashley), and Clinton Fondren; eight grandchild­ren, Ciara, Abby, Aden, Jameson, Mason, Avery, Evie, and Lincoln Fondren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is remembered as a devoted wife and mother, as well as a faithful, serving Christian and friend. She never forgot kind words and letters and gifts for her grandchild­ren and loved ones. She was a common fixture on the piano bench at church and very rarely missed worshippin­g the Lord.

We as a family are so blessed to have been raised in a devoted Christian family by parents that loved us unselfishl­y. A Godly example is the memory we will most cherish.

There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Blythe Creek Cemetery in Mathiston, MS. Rev. Bill Lee will conduct the service.

Mrs. Forrester was born on July 3, 1941 in Columbus to the late Barba Newton and Gertie Stapp Bowen. She was a member of Midway Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school classes for many years. She was a wonderful homemaker and she had a very special talent for cake decorating. She was fondly known in Starkville and the surroundin­g areas as the “Cake Lady”. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Wilford Forrester. Survivors include: Daughter:

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her honor to Sanctuary Hospice, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital or Dementia Research.
