Raymond Barker, Sr.

Raymond Lamar Barker Sr. age 89 died Friday, October 16, 2020 at his residence in Starkville. Graveside services with U.S. Air Force Honors will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev Jim Genesse officiating. Mr. Barker was born on Friday, February 13, 1931 in Derma, MS to the late Granville H. and Willie Ree Foster Barker. He received his Eagle Scout at the age of 15. Mr. Barker graduated from Mississippi State University in 1951 with a degree in mechanical engineering. While attending MSU he was a member of the ROTC, then entered the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at Keesler AFB, then transferred to Albuquerque,

NM where he served in special weapons. Mr. Barker led a full life, he was a member of the Lion’s Club, a Mason, and Commanding Officer of the Mississippi National Guard. He was the City Engineer for the City of Tunica until retired in Starkville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Haley Barker
