Meet the Editor

Hi, SDN readers. It’s time I introduce myself as my first full week as editor comes to a close. My name is Jessica Lindsey, and I am the new Editor at Starkville Daily News. I’m from the Jackson, Tenn. area and the product of two Air Force veterans.

I graduated from Mississippi State University in May of 2018 with a degree in Communication, and I am absolutely stoked to be back in Starkville. In my time at MSU, I mostly worked with the Ice Dawg hockey team in almost every capacity aside from actually skating.

The summer before my senior year, I interned with ESPN’S social media team in Bristol, Conn. In my last year, I was the opinion editor at the student newspaper, The Reflector. I also covered a few sporting events as a photographer and covered the 2018 NCAA Women’s Basketball National

Final Four and National Championship as a journalist.

After graduating, I moved back home and was the assistant manager at a jewelry store. I wrote for multiple hockey sites and eventually started my own with two other women in the sports industry.

If you ever want to talk about hockey, I’m your girl. I’m also very glad to have someone as talented and dedicated to sports as Danny P. is here at SDN to talk with.

If I’m not at work, I’ll be at the dog park with my blue heeler-lab mix, Wilson, who is only a year and half and still full of puppy energy.

I am very excited to be back in Starkville and ready to be immersed in the wonderful community that shaped me in college. My office is open, and I look forward to meeting as many people as possible.
