All church leaders invited to special meeting

- By JESSICA LINDSEY

On Thursday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m., the Cross of Christ group will hold a meeting for all Christian leaders in the community to attend about the 125 foot tall cross they would like to build on the northwest side of Highway 25.

The purpose of the cross is to bring hope and a sense of belonging to those who see it. It will be hard to miss where they intend to place it, and for many Christians, it will be as symbolic as a lighthouse in a storm.

The Cross of Christ is a nondenominational group made up of leaders of Starkville, and the massive crosses symbolizing the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in Eupora and Grenada inspired them.

They are looking to get approval from the Board of Aldermen, and they need $250,000 to build the cross.

The meeting will be held at the First Baptist Church’s warehouse facility on Jackson Street across from Georgia Blue.

The Cross of Christ for Starkville needs all the help and support from the community to make this project happen, and they would like to invite other leaders who are not yet involved to this meeting.

They are still in the early phases of getting more people involved and excited about the project and everything it symbolizes. This meeting is part of that push to reach out to the community, and answer all of the questions anyone should have.

For those interested in attending the meeting on Thursday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church warehouse facility, please let either Wallace Cade (662-889-1227) or Bob Daniels (662-4184496) know.
