Easter activities to check out through the week

- By JESSICA LINDSEY

Easter is exactly one week away from today, and people will finally be able to celebrate the holiday by gathering together after spending last year apart from friends and family. Throughout the week leading up to Easter Sunday, there will be plenty of activities to celebrate with the family.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, March 30 and 31, Starkville Parks and Recreation will be handing out Easter baskets to the first 250 children ages two to 10. This event will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Travis Outlaw Center on Helen Circle right off of Lynn Lane.

Miss Rainey from the Starkville Public Library will host her story time paired with an Easter egg hunt on Wednesday, March 31 at Fire Station Park. There will be two separate times as usual - 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The 10 a.m. story time is catered more toward toddlers and younger children. The 4 p.m. story time is geared more toward children starting to attend school. The Easter egg hunt is for children 12 and under, and those attending must bring their own basket. Miss Rainey will bring a live bunny with her for the children to take a picture with after story time is over. If you cannot make the story time, SPL has an Easter story timeto-go which includes an Easter read aloud book and crafts for toddlers to pre-teens. This is available all throughout the week at the library and all you have to do is call 662323-2766 for curbside pickup from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Good Friday, Riley J's Streatery will be parked on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Easter

Bunny will be visiting with their customers.

Saturday, April 3, is going to be a very hoppy day all across the city. Adaton Baptist Church will host an Easter egg hunt from 10:30 a.m. to noon, but if you are hungry and want to have lunch with the bunny of the hour, the Easter Bunny will be at Chicken Salad Chick on Highway 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. After visiting with the Easter Bunny, the whole family can hop over to West Side Park at 400 North Long Street for Exquisitely Unique LIGHT'S Extraordinary Egg hunt that starts at 1 p.m. There will be food, face painting and fun activities for all. They will also hide a golden egg that includes a cash prize

The Easter Bunny sounds like he will be a very busy bunny this week in Starkville, but he's ready to see some smiling faces while spreading some joy.
