The 2021 Starkville Christmas Parade is tomorrow
Tomorrow is the day that truly starts the Christmas season in Starkville. At 6 p.m. Santa Claus will make his way down Main Street to usher in the holiday of giving and fellowship with jolly laughter and rosy cheeks.
This year’s Christmas parade is presented by Reed’s and the theme is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” to honor Mike Goree and his 35th year as Santa Claus. The grand marshal is none other than Mississippi State Baseball head coach Chris Lemonis.
To prepare for the parade, Starkville Police Department is closing the staging area for participants along the portion of Lampkin Street from the South Montgomery intersection down to Fire Station Park and down Russell Street from Lampkin all the way to Green Street. This will begin at 4 p.m.
SPD is also asking all cars parked along Main Street from Starkville Public Library down to City Hall to be cleared before 5 p.m. in preparation for the parade route.
The parade will briefly go up South Montgomery Street, take a left on Main Street, turn left down South Washington Street right in front of City Hall, take a right on East Lampkin Street, and then end at the Greensboro Street and Louisville Street intersection.
The low for Monday night is in the mid 30s, so dress warmly because temperatures will begin to fall as it gets dark. The sun is projected to set around 4:45 p.m., so the lights and decorations draping across Main Street will be on display in their full splendor.
It is sure to be a magical night, and Starkville Public Library will have hot chocolate for those coming to the parade and braving the cold of the night.
Bundle up and enjoy the night. The 2021 Starkville Christmas Parade starts at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 29.
