Cristina Crowe has found her destination

EUPORA – Before she and her husband had settled down in Eupora, Cristina Crowe believes they have found their permanent home.

A native of Pensacola, Fla., what prompted Crowe and her husband Ben to move to Mississippi wasn't a straight shot.

She says due to her husband's job is what sparked the move from the beginning. Ben was already living in Tallahassee, Fla. when they had gotten married, so she then joined him over there to start their transition.

“We then moved to another little town called Perry, which is not very far away from Tallahassee. My husband was in the pulp and paper business for well over 20 years,” said Crowe. “Then from there, we lived in Hattiesburg for a short period of time, and then moved to Tuscaloosa, which was interesting because we're actually Auburn fans, but we do cheer for Mississippi State also. Then, we finally moved to Eupora.”

Housed in the 404 area in Eupora, Crowe says that she and her husband are “centralized.”

“We're big outdoors people, and when we saw this house that's off the road, we just fell in love with it,” said Crowe. “It was really important to us as animal lovers to have a place like this. We had just put our last dog down over a year ago when she was 14. So we waited until after the move and got settled, and we just didn't want to worry about neighbors calling like if they're barking or whatever, and we wanted them to be able to be free.”

Now, Crowe and her husband have two cats that came with the house and a new dog named Michonne named after the character of the same name from The Walking Dead.

Crowe and her husband closed on their house in October of 2020, nearly 19 months ago. But to get to that point, they had to move in the middle of the pandemic, which proved to be a challenge.

“A lot of stuff got delayed if you think about it. I just really started getting out more. When we lived in Perry, I would help some with substitute teaching and then I would end up being long term sometimes,” said Crowe. “I started helping out just because we were in a not-so-large community, and Eupora is kind of similar and I was going to get back to doing that here, but my husband told me he'd rather have me wait because of the virus still, so we've been working on projects at the house.”

Despite the challenging move, Crowe does believe she and her husband have hit their final destination.

“We're hoping this is gonna be our forever home. If we ever do move again, we're going to be going into a nursing home,” said Crowe. “But we're hoping that we'll always be able to keep this property.”
