County engineer presents bids for District 1 road improvements

-

“What we have already done is take the first step which was to meet with the dam safety division of MDEQ [during the first week of April], and we went through the report we had presented to you in March,” Mcdonald said to the board.

A motion was made to accept Mcdonald's revised amendment to the original contract for the scope of work and passed 4-1 with Miller in opposition.

Last week, the county received two bids for the road improvements in District 1. During this week's meeting, county engineer Clyde Pritchard presented those bids to the board with the total project engineering estimate being $1,766,444.54.

The lowest bid was received from Phillips Contracting based out of Columbus, which they bidded $2,453,247.27 which is right at 39 percent over the estimate.

After discussion

based on that bid, the board decided to table the discussion and save it for a work session meeting which will take place tomorrow morning (May 18) at 10:30 a.m. upstairs in the Oktibbeha County Courthouse.

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, June 6 at 9 a.m. upstairs in the Oktibbeha County Courthouse.
