Davidson reflects on Mississippi State career

- By ROBBIE FAULK

For nearly nine years, Mia Davidson has been a Mississippi State Bulldog.

It has been that long since Davidson first joined the recruiting class in junior high and when she finally got to school, she was setting the stage for a legendary career. No. 33 is not a number that has drawn attention, but it certainly won't be looked at a different way at MSU from here on out.

As Davidson sat her cleats down at home plate and walked off the field one final time on Saturday, the North Carolina native reflected on what Starkville had meant to her – what MSU had meant to her.

“I wanted to come to a program and make something of it and leave it better than I found it,” Davidson said. “I wanted to make sure that we had a team that was we over me and that everybody knew their role and had their part. I came in and know that I gave my all, my heart and my soul since June 13, 2013 when I committed. I know that Mississippi State will always have my heart and it will always be my home.”

Davidson accomplished much of what she sat out to accomplish during her five years in Starkville. She was not only the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year in 2018, she made first-team ALLSEC

as she hit an incredible .370 with what turned out to be a career high 70 hits and 13 doubles and she added 19 home runs and 48 RBI.

In year two, she was ALL-SEC again batting .373 with 63 hits, a career high 26 home runs and 64 RBI and an astonishing .882 slugging percentage. After COVID-19, Davidson had her “worst” season with a .311 batting average, 55 hits,
