Track and Field
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Southeastern Conference champion, Navasky Anderson, of Mississippi State is headed to Oregon as the East's second-fastest 800-meter runner. The Kingston, Jamaica native won his heat by a time of 1:47.83 to successfully punch his ticket to the NCAA National Championships.
Anderson now joins fellow Bulldogs Cameron Crump and DJ Jónsson who are all packing their bags and traveling west in two weeks' time. Crump booked his trip by becoming the leading entry out of the East after a first-place, personal-best performance in the long jump. Jónsson secured his place by throwing a top-five throw in the javelin.
MSU still had multiple chances to send even more Dawgs to Oregon on Saturday in what will be the final day of the NCAA East Preliminaries. Asia Poe, Jhordyn Stallworth and Sydney Steely will all represent State in the second day of the women's preliminary action.
