Jeanette Maurice Taylor

-

Jeanette Maurice Taylor of Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, after a brief illness. She was 78 years old.

She earned undergraduate degrees from Sacramento State University and the University of California at Los Angeles and her doctoral degree from Virginia Tech in 1978. She married Walter Taylor in November 1979. The couple's respective careers relocated them to Starkville, Mississippi in 1985. In 2007, Jeanette retired as the Assistant Superintendent of the Caddo Parish Public School System located in Shreveport, Louisiana.

After retirement, Jeanette and Walter continued to reside in Starkville but took numerous road trips to visit friends and family and explore God's beautiful country; but most of all, they frequently enjoyed the relaxation and ocean views of San Destin, Florida.

As the Director of the Children's Choir at Second Baptist Church and at Starkville Church of God, she loved music and working with the children. In 2018, Jeanette and Walter relocated back to Virginia to be closer to family. In October 2022, her health took a turn, but this did not hamper her love of nature, her doting husband, her precious grandchildren, or her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Predeceasing Jeanette are her parents, Darius Cornelius Hudson, Sr. and Earline Francis Hudson (Dotson); her sisters, Helen Louise Mcfalls and Teena Hudson; and her son, Billy.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Walter Taylor (Chesterfield, Virginia); her daughters: Dana Chenevert (Moseley, Virginia) and Annette Singleton Tolson Jackson (Orangeburg, South Carolina); her six grandchildren; her five great-grandchildren; her brothers: Darius Cornelius Hudson, Jr. and Jerry Glenn Hudson (Beybi) of Sacramento, California; and a host of brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time friends. She is sorely missed.
