FRISCO,TEXAS – In a game that featured 24 total runs scored, the Mississipp­i State Bulldogs were unable to outscore the Oklahoma Sooners on day two of the Frisco Classic, falling by a score of 15-9.

The Bulldogs (6-5) put up nine runs for the day, with seven Bulldogs earning at least one RBI. Ross Highfill went 2-for-3 at the plate, including hitting his first collegiate home run, drew two walks and drove one run in. Bryce Chance went 1-for-3, also reaching on two walks and gaining two RBIS. Luke Hancock and Kellum Clark both had two-hit days as well.

Graham Yntema was charged with the loss after throwing 2.2 innings.tyler Davis finished the game on the mound for the Bulldogs, working five complete innings.

Mississipp­i State is back in action today at 11 a.m. against the California Golden Bears. The game will be broadcast through D1baseball.com.

Men’s Golf

PHOENIX, Ariz. – No. 22 Mississipp­i State holds a fourstroke lead after the second round of the Desert Mountain Invitation­al was suspended due to darkness Saturday night. After going 5-under as a team in the first round, the Bulldogs are the only team in the field currently shooting par or better.

Ruan Pretorius holds the top spot on the individual leaderboar­d, two strokes ahead of Santa Clara's Viraj Garewal. He carded eight birdies in the first round and went bogey-free on his first 11 holes of the second round. Pretorius is shooting six-under through suspended play.

Garrett Endicott sits in a four-way tie for 15th. He carded four birdies and shot even in the first round.

Austin Vukovits and William Wann are in a seven-way tie for 24th. Vukovits shot 2-under 70 in the first round, carding a pair of birdies and made an eagle on the 16th hole. Wann made a 19-spot jump from the first round to the point play was suspended and is currently shooting even-par through 13 in the second round.

Ford Clegg shot five birdies in the first round and is tied for 31st. Hunter Logan is tied for 48th and carded back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th holes.

MSU will resume play in the second round today morning at 9 a.m. and will play continuous­ly into the final round.

Men’s Tennis

OXFORD – No. 18 Mississipp­i State suffered its first Southeaste­rn Conference loss of the season on Saturday, falling at 59thranked Ole Miss 4-3.

The Bulldogs (12-2, 1-1 SEC) split their singles matches but dropped the earlier doubles point, which ultimately proved to be the difference.

Ewen Lumsden and Gregor Ramskogler made short work of their singles matches to give MSU a brief 2-1 advantage. Lumsden was the first off the court with his 6-1, 6-2 victory over Lukas Engelhardt followed by Ramskogler's win against reigning SEC Freshman of the Week Isac Stromberg 6-4, 6-3.

No. 113 Carles Hernandez also earned a victory moments after the Rebels clinched the match. Hernandez downed Simon Junk 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.

Ole Miss (9-2, 1-0 SEC) evened the match 2-2 as No. 68 Nikola Slavic defeated Nemanja Malesevic 7-5, 6-2 and took the lead when Noah Schlagenha­uf rallied past Benito Sanchez Martinez 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. John Hallquist Lithen clinched things for the
