Carroll Howard “Whitty” Whitten Jr. was born August 30th, 1929 and passed peacefully March 18th, 2023. Born to Carroll H. Whitten Sr. and Bernadine “Bun” Whitten in Spokane, WA, the family moved to Colville where he grew up with sisters Mary Jean Gray and Lucille Christian. After graduating in the class of ‘ 47 from Colville High School, he worked with his father in the service station industry. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeanie Keehn, age 83, on Valentine’s Day 2023.

Jeanie was born January 10, 1940 in Perth Amboy, NJ to Paul and Margaret Simpfendor­fer. She was the older sister of Carol, who geant First Class, in a combat engineerin­g unit until his discharge in 1952. He returned to Colville, marrying wife Phyllis Floener for over 40 years. Phyllis and Carroll welcomed two children, Jeff and Camille into their lives. Whitty took over the service station business from his father and expanded operations before moving into petroleum distributi­on eventually serving as the president of the Washington State Oil Marketer’s Associatio­n. Whitty was involved with community organizati­ons like the J.C.’s, a past Exalted Ruler of the local Elks Lodge, a charter member of the Benchwarme­rs, a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, the Eagles and the VFW, as well as being a long- time supporter of many local youth organizati­ons and activities. He loved playing card games with friends and family, “knock knock” and Texas Hold-Em, anytime and anyplace but especially at the family lake cabin on Sherry Lake. The only friends he didn’t have were the people who had not met him yet. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis, his sister Lucille, and is survived by sister Mary Jean, children Jeff ( wife Denise), Camille ( husband John), grandchild­ren (Chris, Nicole, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, and Cameron), great- grandchild­ren (Edith, Henry, and Oliver), many nieces and nephews, and innumerabl­e friends. Rosary to be held on Thursday Mar 23rd at 7: 00 PM at Immaculate Conception Church in Colville, WA. Funeral Mass Friday Mar 24 at 10: 00 AM also at Immaculate Conception. Reception to follow.
