A Reborn Ride

-

TBelonging to Chad Cash, the paint, interior, Vortec 350 and 4L60e transmission are all original. Lowered on Belltech rear leaf springs and shocks, as well as Hotchkis racing coils, there’s no doubt that this ’98 is sitting his ’93 Chevrolet S-10 has belonged to Mike Taylor since 1995 and was a daily driver every day until 2002 when Mike got rear-ended. After a bad experience with a painter and the every day demands of a busy life, the S-10 sat in pieces for more than 10 years, while Mike dragged it around and considered scrapping it several times.

When life got better, Mike got to work. The engine and tranny remain stock with only 80,273 miles on them. The interior features an original bench seat, door panels, carpeting and parts, but for the Kenwood tape prettier than when it drove off the lot. Original bushings have been replaced with Energy Suspension parts, and a Hellwig rear sway bar was installed.

Altogether, Chad has a suspension setup that takes this Tahoe from a daily driver to daily diversion, making, as he says, “high speed corners fun.” To stop his ride, Chad has added SSBC front calipers holding Hawk Racing pads and SSBC slotted rotors. The interior features an Alpine head unit and Focal speakers, ensuring it sounds as good as it looks.

Sitting on 20x8 and 20x9.5 US Mags Ramblers dressed in Falken 255/45R20 and 295/40R20 tires, respectively, Chad’s work is far from finished. He’s currently building a heads/cam 5.3L engine to get more power behind these extensive suspension upgrades. We can’t wait to see where this build ends up.

deck Mike bought in 1996. With not even a crack in the dash, these original parts serve as Mike’s tribute to his love for the original Chevy aesthetic. LMC Truck supplied weather-stripping and rubber components to keep the S-10 looking new.

On the exterior, GM Black paint gives this Chevy clean style. Lowered with the help of a Belltech 4- and 3-inch lowering kit, the truck features new leaf springs in the rear with matching spindles and springs for the front. Belltech shocks have also given this Chevy’s suspension new life. Sitting on 17x8 Center Line Scorpions and 235/45R17 BF Goodrich tires, Mike is looking forward to taking this S-10 back out on the road. With a clean setup that shows years of dedication to a truck he loves, we can hardly blame him.
