Advertising exec combines managing with mentoring
Who: Lisa Rossi, 30, is celebrating four years back with Zimmerman Advertising and her promotion a year ago from senior account supervisor to account director overseeing the firm’s Party City account, in Fort Lauderdale.
How my job is important to the
organization: Managing one of the agency’s largest retail accounts gives me the opportunity to be a leader and a mentor, creating a strong rapport with my clients and helping to grow the business.
Biggest learning curve moment: Being promoted to account director was exciting and scary all at the same time. It meant overseeing a national account with many new leadership opportunities and responsibilities, but I would be leaving the comfort zone of a smaller more regionalized account.
Resume
Experience: Joined Zimmerman Advertising in 2005, as a traffic coordinator, and with increasing responsibility on a number of accounts for the agency, in Fort Lauderdale and in New York. Later, joined Calvin Klein Inc. in Manhattan, managing marketing and advertising of its fragrance and beauty brands. In2010, returned to South Florida and rejoined Zimmerman.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing and minor in fashion management, from Lynn University.

Onthe job
Professional development: About a year ago, the company instituted a 12- week leadership course to determine where the firm might be lacking in growth opportunities for both employees and agency overall. Itwas gratifying we were able to present feedback that resulted in a mentoring program.
Teamwork: We manage everything from national TV production to digital and social media initiatives and sports marketing opportunities — so we’re always busy, meeting weekly for brainstorming.
Advice to young professionals: Don’t expect a promotion in three months. There is always a deadline. Clients change their minds. There is always an experience to be had and a mistake or trial fromwhich to learn.
