Medicaid expansion is not free money

This letter is in response to the comments made by House Speaker Steve Crisafulli on “Why Medicaid expansion does not work for Florida.”

I commend him for his informative discussion of the issues. Liberals think money from Washington is “free money with no obligations.” Wrong! The government doesn’t pay the bills or create jobs. We, the citizens, pay through the payment of taxes, and in spite of what Hillary says, businesses create jobs and pay taxes.

It’s time this country learned to live within its means and to leave something for the future. If expenses can be cut elsewhere, which I seriously doubt, then it could possibly be considered.

In the meantime, throwing taxpayer money at every problem isn’t necessarily the solution.
